Something very magical can happen when you read a good book.
Last year, I prided myself on reading more. I read 17 total books for the year, exceeding my goal of 12. Reading, in my opinion, is imperative for any and everything in life. Whether you’re reading for fun or for purpose. Reading can take you to another place and take you many places. As I kick start the new year, I am setting my reading goal even higher. I would love to share with you my anticipated good reads for 2019.
The Daily Stoic
I will begin with what I am currently reading, The Daily Stoic. This book is an absolute life changer. This book is a daily guide geared towards meditation, wisdom, perseverance, and the art of stoic philosophy. Who can’t use powerful words of wisdom in their life? I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this holy grail of positive reads. Looking forward to my continued daily reading and growth to come for the new year.
Next on my list, is the fastest selling book, Becoming, by my forever First Lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama. This book went flying off shelves and online when released November 13, 2018. Even my 80 year old grandmother got the book before I did. Having gotten my copy in hand, I am looking forward to reading this autobiographical memoir. I hear some very personal experiences are shared throughout and I know this will be a really good way to stay connected because although she may not be in the white house any longer, she will forever be apart of history and a great role model.
Jenifer Lewis; The Mother Of Black Hollywood
Ms. Jenifer Lewis needs no introduction! She has graced our television screens and movie screens for over 25 years! Some may only know her for being on ABC hit TV show Blackish but I’ve known her for film works such as What’s Love Got To Do With It, Sister Act, and Beaches. After so many years in the business, Jenifer Lewis is sharing some epic, I’m sure comical, moments in her career and also personal life with memoir The Mother Of Black Hollywood.
1,000 Places To See Before You Die
It is no secret, I LOVE TO TRAVEL! I am setting more and more goals each year to visit a new place. Some places more than once. I don’t know if it’s a Sagittarius quality or what, but I completely agree with the saying, “life isn’t meant to be lived in one place.” For this reason, 1,000 Places To See Before You Die will help me along the way in terms of planning. There are so many places to see, even within your very own country.
The Rhythm Section
Like most, probably, I seem to see the movie before realizing it was first a book. Not this year! There are at least 10 books that will be coming to theaters 2019. One of them is The Rhythm Section. This book is suspense fiction, and who doesn’t love a good suspense. The book follows a character by the name of Stephanie Patrick, who seeks revenge after her family is killed in a plane accident that wasn’t accidental. There is talk, Blake Lively will play the role of Stephanie and Sterling K Brown will be co-starring. I am here for it!
